About Us

Cornwall's face is its fortune and the cleanliness of the County is critical in maintaining both the quality of life and a vibrant local economy.

Research from MORI and others has shown that clean neighbourhoods and better management of the environment is a key factor in determining public satisfaction levels. Reducing litter in Cornwall will have a significant effect on the public's perception of where they live, and the importance of keeping places clean and safe. Reducing litter is also perhaps the one measure that will have the single biggest impact on maintaining the quality of Cornwall's wonderful environment.

CLEAN CORNWALL is a new partnership set up to reduce litter in Cornwall by:

  • raising awareness of the problems caused by litter
  • campaigning to change behaviour
  • improving the way local councils and others manage litter
  • supporting community efforts to reduce and collect litter

The key businesses and organisations promoting Clean Cornwall are:

VisitCornwall

National Trust

....... And now many many more!

We want to get to grips with litter in a managed and sustainable way, which we think is strategically important for Cornwall. The benefits include;

  • improved quality of life for residents and visitors
  • improved quality of the natural and built environment
  • positive impact on the competitiveness of the local economy, (supporting both tourism and inward investment)
  • positive impact on Cornwall's image and reputation

We have done a lot of research to identify the key issues. An action plan has been developed and a large number of partners are now on board to take these issues forward.

We have regular monthly 'Steering Group' meetings, where we discuss all future ideas and initiatives.

There are also regular 'Task Group' meetings which promote specific projects, i.e. Clean Cornwall Week, Education, Litter on Roads, Communication, Sponsorship and Support, etc.

Minutes of these meetings are available by contacting info@cleancornwall.org
